At Strength In People, we focus on self-leadership under pressure — because when leaders change how they operate, everything downstream begins to settle.

Our Point of View

Most issues labelled as “people problems” in SMEs are not caused by poor intent or weak teams.

They are the downstream effect of leaders who:

  • Carry too much emotional load

  • Overuse their strengths when stretched

  • Absorb responsibility that isn’t theirs

  • Make decisions reactively instead of deliberately

Fixing teams without addressing this simply treats the symptoms.

We believe the most effective place to intervene is how leaders lead themselves when pressure is high.

How we work

Our work supports SME owners and the senior leaders around them — directors and managers who hold responsibility for people, performance, and decisions.

This work often starts with those leaders, because that is where pressure shows up most clearly day-to-day.

We use strengths-based diagnostics and focused 1:1 coaching to help leaders:

  • See themselves clearly under pressure

  • Regain clarity, energy, and authority

  • Lead deliberately rather than firefighting

The aim is not to fix people — but to put leaders back in control of how they think, decide, and show up

Our founder - Pippa Dennitts

Strength In People was founded by Pippa Dennitts, a former HR Director and Self-Leadership Specialist with over 25 years’ experience working with SME owners, boards, and senior leadership teams.

Pippa is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Her work combines commercial understanding, deep people insight, and practical coaching — helping capable leaders navigate pressure with greater clarity and intent.

Outside of work, she’s a pilot, campervanner, mountain biker, parish councillor, and trustee — and someone who believes leadership becomes lighter when self-leadership is strengthened.

Pippa is a member of the Association for Business Mentors and is pleased to have been selected as a professional business mentor to support the Help To Grow: Management Course. The Course is Government funded and is designed to help boost the performance and resilience of small businesses in the UK. Pippa provides business mentoring to participating SMEs to support leadership team members as they prepare to lead on the delivery of increased profitability, innovation and growth.
